Alpacas in Peru are not killed exclusively for their fur.
They are very common animals that serve mainly for food and wool production.
Also, alpacas live in really cold areas and every winter there are young and baby alpacas that die because of the cold weather in The Andes.
For these reasons, their fur is used for artisan products in the way to create artistic items that represent their culture and traditions, it really helps artisans to support their economy.
